The LSU Tigers controlled things on Sunday when they took down Mississippi State (27-13-1) by the score of 11-8.
Th Bulldogs got on the board first in the top of the third when Brent Rooker hit double to right center field that allowed Jake Mangum to score. Humphreys followed it up with a sac fly to center field that scored Jack Kruger. Lowe completed the scoring in the third inning with a double to left center field that would allow Rooker to get home safely.
The Tigers responded in the bottom of the fourth with four runs capped off by Cole Freeman hitting a single up the middle to give LSU the lead. The bottom of the fifth was a similar result with four more coming across two of which came off the bats of Bryce Jordan with a two run blast to left field that made it 8-4.
But the Bulldogs weren’t about to go away quietly with a pair runs coming in the top of the seventh off of a double by Stovall and a single from Mangum. Jake Fraley got another run across in the bottom half of the inning with a triple to right center field and a solo shot to left field by Kramer Robertson to put the game away to avoid the sweep.
Russell Reynolds got his first win of the year throwing two and two thirds innings, allowing two hits and struck out two batters.
