LSU Loses Tough One to Mississippi State to Even Series

Posted by clintdomingue on March 30, 2018 in Blogs, Latest News

If there’s a bad way to lose an SEC game, LSU (17-11, 4-4 SEC) had one of those losses on Friday night against Mississippi State, evening up the series with a 4-1 win for the Bulldogs.

How It Happened

The Bulldogs got on the board in the top of the second when Justin Foscue lifted one out to left field. However, the Tigers responded in the bottom of the second with a solo shot of their own coming from Beau Jordan to tie things up.

The Bulldogs took the lead off of a passed ball in the top of the fourth followed by an insurance run by Tanner Poole, scoring off of a wild pitch. Luke Alexander put the ballgame out of reach in the sixth with an RBI single.

Caleb Gilbert dropped to 3-2 on the year allowing four runs, two of which were earned, He allowed seven hits, walked two and struck out six on the evening.

Big Number: 11

LSU’s offense was lights out on Thursday, but couldn’t quite get it going offensively tonight striking out 11 times and only scratching across four hits. Maybe another “BP from Hell” is in order.

Next Up: Rubber Match; First Pitch at 2 pm.
