
The LSU softball team will make its 27th NCAA Tournament appearance, and the Tigers will also host the Baton Rouge Regional May 15-17 as the No. 16 overall seed.
The 2026 Baton Rouge Regional features Virginia Tech (46-10) as the No. 2 seed, Sun Belt Conference Tournament Champions South Alabama (32-25) as the No. 3 seed, and Mid-American Conference Champions Akron (34-23) as the fourth seed.
LSU (37-17) will take on Akron at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
Beth Torina’s squad is hosting an NCAA Tournament Regional for the 10th time over the last 11 years, excluding 2020, which had no tournament due to COVID-19. It will be the 17th time LSU has hosted a regional.
The Tigers received a berth to the NCAA Tournament for the 20th consecutive season and have a record of 88-60 in the Big Dance with six NCAA Women’s College World Series appearances (2001, 2004, 2012, 2015-2017).
The McNeese softball team is making its 10th NCAA Tournament appearance, and sixth under head coach James Landreneau.
McNeese (40-20) defeated Lamar 10-2 in five innings in the third game of the Southland Conference Tournament championship series on Saturday to earn the automatic berth.
It is the first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2023, when the Cowgirls advanced to the finals of an NCAA Regional for the second consecutive year.
McNeese earned the No. 3 seed in the Bryan-College Station Regional, which features No. 15 seed and host Texas A&M (36-17), No. 4 seed UConn (31-26), and No. 2 seed Arizona State (41-16).
McNeese will take on Arizona State on the first day of the regional.
