If it feels like déjà vu for the LSU Tigers, that’s because it largely does. After a late season surge turned into an SEC Tournament title, LSU was named a national seed in the NCAA Baseball Championship brackets on Monday.
This means that the Road to Omaha will be going through Alex Box Stadium. LSU will be hosting a regional field that features Texas Southern, Southeastern Louisiana, and Rice. This is the second straight year that the Lions and Owls have been paired off in the Baton Rouge Regional.
The Tigers will start the postseason on Friday against Texas Southern with first pitch set for 2:30 pm. Paul Mainieri has not officially announced who will be starting against Texas Southern and will do so on Monday
The Baton Rouge regional will be paired off with the Hattiesburg Regional which features host team Southern Miss, Mississippi State, South Alabama, and the University of Illinois-Chicago.
