Michigan State made it look easy on Friday night with the young players leading the Spartans past LSU in an 83-60 win.
How It Happened:
Michigan State came out of the gates firing on all cylinders, starting out with an 8-0 lead in the opening two minutes. LSU started to fight back late in the first half with five points in the final minute to cut the lead down to 40-28 as both teams headed into the locker room.
The Tigers started the second half on fire with an 8-0 run to get within four points. However, the Spartans responded with a 12-2 run, taking a commanding 58-43 lead wtih 13:32 left in the regulation. LSU continued to fight back, but couldn’t get within single digits the rest of the way, sealing their fate.
Big Number: 7
After the game, Michigan State head coach mentioned that only committing seven turnovers was like committing zero and honestly that number was huge as the Spartans advanced to the Elite Eight.
Player of the Game: Aaron Henry
Aaron Henry has been the real story of the NCAA Tournament. After getting chewed out by Izzo in the first round of the tournament, he’s got this team one game away from the Final Four thanks to his 20 points, eight boards, and six assists on the evening.
