Before the second game between the LSU Tigers (29-15, 12-8 SEC) and Alabama (15-27, 2-18 SEC), the winds were whipping at around 25 mph. If there was some solid contact on the ball on Friday night, odds are it was out of here.
Before Friday night ended there were three home runs on the night and a late home run from the Tigers gave them the series win by the score of 5-4.
The Tigers struck first with Antoine Duplantis getting Jordan Romero across in the second. The lead quickly got out to 3-0 after an RBI single from Greg Deichmann in the third and Kramer Robertson scoring off of a passed ball.
Connor Short came up big in the bottom of the third with a solo shot to get the Tide on the board. The lead was extended with another RBI single from Deichmann in the fourth.
The Tide wasn’t about to go quietly with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth and a solo shot from Chandler Taylor. However, Michael Papierski put the final nail in the coffin in the ninth when he hit a solo shot with two outs.
Jared Poche improved to 7-3 on the year allowing four runs off of seven hits, walking one, and striking out two in five and two-thirds innings of work.
The Tigers will look to complete the sweep on Saturday with first pitch set for 2 pm.
