While there is a strong case for LSU to be a national seed after a sweep of Mississippi State last weekend. However, they want to leave no doubt as they continued to roll on Wednesday night when they dominated Missouri behind a pair of four run innings, giving them a 10-3 win to advance to the next round of the tournament.

Mizzou got the early edge in the top of the second with a solo shot from Kameron Misner, but that early confidence booster wouldn’t last long. LSU responded with a four run inning in the bottom of the third that was capped off by an RBI single from Nick Coomes.

Just before a rain delay that almost lasted an hour and a half, Antoine Duplantis extended LSU’s lead with an RBI single. After the delay, Coomes extended their lead when hit a groundout to score Cole Freeman.

Mizzou tried to get a rally going in the eighth with an RBI single from Brett Bond, but that was all they could muster.

Freeman put the final nail in Mizzou’s hopes in the bottom of the eighth with a three run blast down the left field line.

Caleb Gilbert improved to 4-1 on the season allowing one run off three hits, walked one, and struck out three in five innings of work.

LSU will now take on the Kentucky Wildcats tomorrow with first pitch tentatively scheduled for 8 pm.
