LSU Rallies to Take Down Arkansas, Evens Up Series

Posted by clintdomingue on May 6, 2018 in Blogs, Latest News

The Arkansas Razorbacks (33-15, 14-9 SEC) looked poised to come away with the series win headed into the bottom of the seventh. However, the LSU Tigers (27-20, 11-12 SEC) were able to rally back and even up the series with a 6-4 win.

How It Happened

The Tigers drew first blood with an RBI single up the middle by Antoine Duplantis. Later in the inning, Daniel Cabrera followed suit with a single up the middle to score Duplantis, making it 2-0.

Dominic Fletcher evened things up in the top of the third with a two-run blast out to right field. The Razorbacks took a 3-2 lead in the fifth when Evan Lee was walked with the bases loaded.

LSU didn’t give up though as Austin Bain hit a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh out to left center to make it 4-3. Zach Watson gave them a pair of runs in the eighth with a single that led to two runs scoring due to a throwing error by Jake Reindi.

Arkansas tried to fight back in the ninth with an RBI single from Eric Cole, but Todd Peterson finished things off shortly after.

Devin Fontenot got his first win of the season allowing one hit, walked one, and struck out two in three innings of relief work.

Big Number: 9

The Razorbacks had nine hits on the evening and left nine on the bags and that was a key for LSU coming away with a win.

Player of the Game: Austin Bain

The Bain Train pulled into the station and came up huge in the seventh with a two-run single to get back in front. The one hit he had on Saturday was huge.
