LSU Rally Falls Short Against Alabama

Posted by clintdomingue on March 19, 2016 in Latest News

The Tigers tried to get some ninth inning magic going, but it was too little too late as the Alabama Crimson Tide (13-5, 2-0 SEC) swept the twinbill by the score of 4-3.

The Tide got rolling in the top of the fourth with a pair of runs to go up 2-0 early.

Haynie struck again in the top of the fifth with a solo shot to left field to make it 3-0.

The Tigers began to rally in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single by Jordan Romero.

Holcombe got another run on the board in the top of the ninth off of an RBI single by Holcombe. But LSU responded in the bottom of the ninth with Beau Jordan hitting an RBI single to score Jake Fraley. Antoine Duplantis got the Tigers within one off of a wild pitch. But that was all there was as Michael Papierski fouled to Alabama’s third baseman to lose their first conference series.

Jared Poche dropped to 2-2 on the season allowing three runs off of four hits and striking out three in five innings of work.

The Tigers (13-5, 0-2 SEC) will try to avoid the sweep on Sunday against Alabama with first pitch set for 1 pm.
