LSU Rolls Past South Carolina to Remain Unbeaten in SEC

Posted by clintdomingue on January 20, 2019 in Blogs, Latest News

This has been quite the impressive start for the LSU Tigers (14-3, 4-0 SEC) as they remained undefeated in conference play on Saturday afternoon when they took the South Carolina Gamecocks (9-8, 4-1 SEC) to task and came away with a very convincing 89-67 win in front of a packed house at the PMAC.

How It Happened:

South Carolina came out the gates strong and set the tone early on but the Tigers quickly responded and took control of the ballgame thanks to a 10-2 run to give them an eight-point lead with 12:02 left until halftime. LSU started to get into a rhythm as the second half came to a close and were able to head into the locker room at halftime with a very comfortable 20-point lead after Skylar Mays made a fastbreak layup with 50 seconds left.

The Tigers put it in cruise control in the second half and were able to keep a double-digit lead throughout the second half with it never getting below 19 points as the Tigers protected home court once again.

Big Number: 6

The Tigers shared the wealth throughout Saturday’s matchup with six players getting into double figures. It was refreshing to see that happen against a South Carolina team that was off to a hot start in conference play.

Player of the Game: Kavell Bigby-Williams

Bigby-Williams has been a beast the last few games and he proved that with a 12-point, 11 rebound performance. Color me impressed with what he’s done since the calendar has flipped over to January and that’s helped the rest of the team be more cohesive on the floor.

Up Next: vs Georgia Wednesday; Tipoff at 6 pm
