LSU Shut Out in Midweek Matchup to McNeese

Posted by clintdomingue on March 26, 2019 in Blogs, Latest News

LSU baseball has had it rough and those woes continued on Tuesday night, losing to the McNeese State Cowboys by the score of 2-0.

How It Happened:

The Cowboys found a way to get on the board in the top of the third when Dustin Duhon was able to score off of a wild pitch to take the lead. The only other score didn’t come until the bottom of the eighth and it was in similar fashion with Payton Harden scoring off a wild pitch to give McNeese a 2-0 lead that they wouldn’t let go of the rest of the way.

Big Number: 9

Nine LSU runners were left stranded. Considering how low scoring Tuesday night’s game was, that was very much the difference in LSU winning a midweek game and heading into Starkville losers of three straight.

Player of the Game: Brett Payne

Payne looked great in the start, getting his first win of the season with six solid innings, allowing only two hits and striking out five batters. It felt like LSU’s offense could have teed off on him heading into the game, but he surprised a lot of people, most importantly the Tigers offense who was left in the cold.

Next Up: Thursday at Mississippi State; First Pitch at 6 pm
