LSU Shuts Out Grambling Behind Big Third Inning

Posted by clintdomingue on April 2, 2019 in Blogs, Latest News

The LSU Tigers looked great on the baseball diamond Tuesday night, shutting out Grambling thanks to another solid outing by Clay Moffitt.

How It Happened:

LSU wasted very little time getting on the board with Chris Reid hitting a groundout in the bottom of the first to get Antoine Duplantis across home plate. The third inning was where the offense went into another level with seven runs, capped off by a three-run bomb from Josh Smith.

Cade Beloso put the finishing touches on the ballgame in the bottom of the eighth with an RBI single to wrap up the midweek matchup.

Big Number: 5

Clay Moffitt needed to have an extended outing to save some of the bullpen guys due to it being a five-game week. He did just that with five solid innings of work, striking out five in the process.

Player of the Game: Josh Smith

Josh Smith was a solid bat for the Tigers on Tuesday night, going two-of-three including that three-run bomb in the third. Definitely deserving of the honor.

Next Up: Wednesday vs South Alabama; First Pitch 6 pm
