The LSU Tigers received some bad news when it comes to a big-name signee in Brice Turang. The shortstop out of Santiago High School in California was picked 21st overall by the Milwaukee Brewers.
MLB ranked Turang as the 25th best prospect in the 2018 draft. The 21st pick is valued at $3,013,600 meaning that he will likely make a good chunk of change and likely skip college to try and make it to The Show.
Pro: Hits for Average
One of the big things that MLB scouts kept an eye on with him was his ability at the dish. During his junior season, he batted .465 and only struck out once in 101 at-bats.
Con: Strength
Standing at 6’1″ and 165 pounds, it’s safe to say that he’ll need to add some strength to be able to handle the grind of the regular season schedule. It’ll also help with his power that many scouts weren’t pleased with.
