The LSU softball team found out their postseason fate on Sunday evening, and they will be staying home to host an NCAA Regional.
The Tigers were awarded a host site as the #9 overall seed. However, they were not awarded one of the top eight national seeds, which are the teams that are guaranteed to host a super regional if they win their regional.

Joining LSU in their regional are the Jackson State Tigers of the SWAC, Southern Illinois of the Missouri Valley, and California of the PAC-12.
Beth Torina’s LSU team enters postseason play with a record of 40-15. They finished SEC play with a 12-12 mark, but made a run in the SEC Tournament, including an upset of #1 seed Tennessee. Many thought that their late surge was enough to get them into the top eight. However, the committee did not agree, and now the Tigers will enter play as the #9 seed.
The Tigers will open the regional on Friday evening at 5:00 PM against Jackson State. The tournament is a double-elimination format.
