The LSU Tigers (15-8, 2-2 SEC) looked poised to get a win on Friday night after they got out to a 2-0 lead in the first. However, the Vanderbilt Commodores (16-6, 4-0 SEC) responded in a big way and came away with a 4-2 win.
How It Happened
The Tigers started things off on the right foot with Zach Watson hitting a one-out triple followed by Antoine Duplantis getting him across home safely with an RBI single to centerfield. Later in the inning, Beau Jordan hit an RBI single out to left field to make it 2-0.
However, the Commodores responded with a two-run blast left field from Julian Infante in the bottom of the second. Pat DeMarco followed suit in the bottom of the third with a two-run shot of his own.
Zach Hess dropped to 3-3 on the season allowing all four runs off of four hits, walked three, and struck out three in three and a third innings of work. Drake Fellows improved to 4-0, allowing two runs off of five hits, struck out four, and walked three in five innings of work.
Big Number: 2
Having this be the big number for this ballgame make sense considering the deciding factor of the ballgame was two two-run home runs from the Commodores.
