After LSU’s (12-7, 3-4 SEC) three-game skid, it seemed like the Tigers couldn’t get out of their own way during a tough stretch in SEC play. However, they were able to come out of the gates strong on Tuesday night and finally get a win at home over an SEC opponent with a 77-65 victory over Texas A&M.
After a slow start from both teams, LSU got out to a 15-4 lead with 11:57 left in the first half. It was all Tigers in the final moments of the first half and that lead ballooned to 41-26 as both teams headed to the locker room.
The Aggies didn’t give up though and started the second half strong as they got the lead down to 12 points with 17:53 left in regulation. However, the Tigers were able to hold Texas A&M’s top scorers to 10 points in the second half and that was more than enough to keep them at bay for much of the second half. The final nail was put in thanks to a three-pointer from Tremont Waters with 2:18 left in regulation.
LSU will return to action on Saturday when they take on the Auburn Tigers (17-2, 5-1 SEC) with tipoff set for 5 pm.
