LSU Staves Off Ball State Rally in 10-6 Win

Posted by clintdomingue on March 13, 2016 in Featured

The LSU Tigers scored in bunches once again on Sunday afternoon against Ball State (8-9) and held off a late rally to win 10-6.

The Tigers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after an RBI single by Beau Jordan.

Stayton tied things up for the Cardinals in the top of the third with an RBI single to right field. But the tie did not last long as the Tigers plated three runs in the bottom of the third.

The onslaught continued for the Tigers in the bottom of the fourth with the team plating four runs to put the Tigers up 8-1.

The Cardinals got two more on the board with a double from Eppers in the top of the sixth. The Tigers responded in the bottom of the sixth with a two-out two-run bomb from Greg Deichmann to right center field to put away the Cardinals and take their final non-conference series.

John Valek improves to 4-0 on the year, allowing one run off of eight hits and striking out two in five innings of work.

The Tigers (12-3) will stay inside the friendly confines of the Box for a midweek matchup against the UNO Privateers (12-2) with first pitch set for 6:30 pm.
