LSU Takes Down Tennessee 84-75

Posted by clintdomingue on March 11, 2016 in Latest News

The Tennessee Volunteers gave the LSU Tigers a run for their money on Friday afternoon, but the Tigers were able to come away with a big 84-75 win in the SEC Tournament.

The Tigers started out strong, opening up with an 8-0 run, but Tennessee cut away at the lead throughout the half. The Volunteers kept the pressure on LSU, ending the first half with a 13-4 run to get a one-point lead heading into the locker room.

The Tigers started out the second half in the same fashion they started the game with a big 11-2 run in the opening five minutes. The Tigers continued to put the heat on the rest of the way going up by as much as 11 points to move on the SEC Semifinals.

Antonio Blakeney led the Tigers with 22 points and four boards on the afternoon. Tim Quarterman was right behind him with 18 points, five boards, and one steal.

Detrick Mostella and Robert Hubbs led the Aggies with 19 points apiece in the loss.

The LSU Tigers will try to head to the SEC Tournament Finals for the first time since 1993 with a noon matchup against Texas A&M, a team that they’ve split the season series against.
