Just when you think that the LSU Tigers (9-16, 1-12 SEC) have run out of ways to lose, they do what they did on Tuesday night.
The Tigers were up by as much as six points with eight minutes left, but the Ole Miss Rebels (16-10, 7-6 SEC) were able to take the lead and end up winning by the score of 96-76.
LSU started out strong, getting out to a 20-15 lead with 13:21 left in the first half. However, the Rebels would get the lead back late in the first half. The Tigers would get the lead back and headed into the locker room at halftime with a 47-44 lead.
The Tigers continued to take control of the game early on in the second half, getting out to an 11-point lead with 16:25 left in regulation. This wouldn’t last though as Ole Miss would go on a23-7 run that would give them the lead again. In the final moments of the game, the Rebels continued to have control of the game and were able to get out to a 20 point lead as time expired.
LSU will return to action on Saturday when they take on the Alabama Crimson Tide (14-10, 7-5 SEC) with tipoff set for 2:30 pm.
By the Numbers:
29: Number of points for Antonio Blakeney. One of the biggest factors for LSU’s lead at the half was his performance as he put up 22 of those points within the first twenty minutes.
7: Number of made field goals in the second half for LSU. Once the Tigers got into the second half, it seemed like their shooting ability from the field was nonexistent.
33: Number of points for Terence Davis. The Rebels really needed him to go all out at the half and was stellar in the second half making all four of his last shots.
