LSU third baseman Conner Hale signed with the Seattle Mariners on Sunday.
Hale, who hit .327 with four home runs and 56 RBIs as a junior this season, was selected by the Mariners in the ninth round of the MLB draft earlier this month. He announced the news by tweeting a photo of him signing his paperwork while wearing a Mariners cap.
Hale is one of the seven LSU starting position players who are expected to head to the minor leagues this season; only outfielder Jake Fraley is expected to return. Hale spent two seasons with LSU after transferring to Baton Rouge from State College of Florida.
