LSU Tigers’ pitcher Casan Evans was named a finalist for the 2025 Stopper of the Year Award by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, the NCBWA announced on Tuesday.
The award goes to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I Baseball, and this will be the 20th time it is given out.
Evans, a Houston, Texas native, is one of just two freshman to be finalists for the award. He has a 1.90 ERA with six saves for the season, and has been a big part of Jay Johnson’s bullpen.
Most recently, Evans shined in the team’s Regional clinching win over Little Rock on Monday, going six innings with 12 strikeouts, helping the Tigers book their ticket to the Super Regionals.
LSU will face West Virginia in Game One of the Baton Rouge Super Regional on Saturday, June 7th at 1:00 PM. You can listen to the action on ESPN 103.7 Lafayette 104.1 Lake Charles.
