Malik Nabers is headed to New York.
The former Comeaux High and LSU star wide receiver was selected with the No. 6 overall pick by the New York Giants in Thursday night’s NFL Draft in Detroit.
Nabers is the highest-drafted LSU wide receiver since Ja’Marr Chase was taken No. 5 overall in 2021.
The 6-foot, 200-pound Nabers was a consensus All-American and Biletnikoff Award finalist after having a monster season for Brian Kelly and the Tigers. Nabers pulled down 89 receptions for 1,569 yards, scored 14 receiving touchdowns, and averaged 120.7 yards per game.
Nabers leaves LSU as the program’s all-time leader in receptions (189) and receiving yards (3,003) and accomplished the feat in three seasons. Nabers is one of two players in Tiger history to top the 3,000-yard mark in receiving yards, joining former Rayne High star Josh Reed (3,001 yards from 1999-2001).
Nabers is the ninth Tiger wide receiver to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Nabers joins Chase (No. 5 in 2021), Justin Jefferson (No. 22 in 2020), Odell Beckham Jr. (No. 12 in 2014), Craig Davis (No. 30 in 2007), Dwayne Bowe (No. 23 in 2007), Michael Clayton (No. 15 in 2004), Eddie Kennison (No. 18 in 1996), and Wendell Davis (No. 27 in 1988) as Tiger wideouts that were selected in the first round.
