The LSU baseball team has three players named to the Midseason Watch List for the 2023 Golden Spikes Award. The players are junior right-handed pitcher Paul Skenes, junior centerfielder Dylan Crews, and sophomore third baseman Tommy White.
The list was announced by USA Baseball, which continues to identify the country’s top amateur baseball players. The list features 45 of the nation’s best college and high school baseball athletes.
LSU is one of 33 universities represented on the 2023 midseason list with the SEC being one of 13 conferences making their mark. LSU and Wake Forest, the nation’s consensus top two ranked teams, each has three players on the list, which leads all programs.
Skenes leads the nation in strikeouts with 83, strikeouts per nine innings at 16.85, hits allowed per nine innings at 3.86, and has a .61 WHIP, and he is second in the nation with a .81 ERA.
Crews leads the nation this season in multiple offensive categories, including a .531 batting average, on-base percentage at .659, and runs scored with 51, and he is third in slugging percentage at .927 and fifth in base hits with 51.
White has 10 home runs this season, and he is first in the nation in RBI per game at 1.92, and total RBI with 50.
