Consistency.

Lake Charles College Prep, Sterlington and Jena have been constants in Class 3A in recent years.

This year was no different as all three teams earned top three seeds in their respective brackets.

They were also represented well with the major awards on the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Class 3A All-State football team.

LCCP junior Ayden Carter was named as the Class 3A Most Outstanding Offensive Player after leading the Trailblazers to the state quarterfinals for the fourth time in eight years.

Carter had 3,360 all-purpose yards and 35 touchdowns as a rusher, receiver and a returner. As one of the fastest athletes in Louisiana, he rushed for over 200 yards seven times this season.

For leading Sterlington to a successful defense of its Division III non-select state title, senior Tre Burch earned Class 3A Most Outstanding Defensive Player for the second consecutive season.

Burch racked up 118 tackles and four interceptions – one of those going for a touchdown to clinch a state championship victory for Jena. He scored three touchdowns on defense this season.

Jena coach Jay Roark was voted as the Class 3A Coach of the Year for leading his team to its first state title appearance.

Roark guided the Giants to a 12-2 mark and the No. 1 seed in Division III non-select for the second time in three seasons. As the Giants’ all-time leader in career wins, Roark has taken the program to new heights with the schools’ first two appearances in the state semifinals over the last three years.
