Jake Marler won the 104th Louisiana State Amateur Golf Championship at Southern Trace Country Club over the weekend. The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns’ golfer shot nine-under-par to win the event by three shots over Hunter Battles and Jay Mendell, who both tied for second.
Marler began the event with a one-under 71, and was three shots behind co-leaders Grayson Glorioso and Walter Anderson. However, Jake put together rounds of 68 and 69 to take a lead that he would not relinquish. A final-round score of 71 ensured the victory for the Shreveport native and C.E. Byrd product.
Marler helped the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns’ golf team win the 2023 Sun Belt Championship, which secured them a berth in the NCAA Regionals. He also led C.E. Byrd to a Division I LHSAA State Title while in high school.
