The leaderboard after two rounds of action at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans is quite crowded.
In fact, four teams share the lead at -13, including Rory McIlroy and his playing partner Shane Lowry.
McIlroy and Lowry entered the day -11, but the format shifted to alternate shot today, a much more difficult one than the best ball that was played yesterday. The pair made two birdies on their first four holes, but had a bogey mixed in as well. After a -1 front nine, they made bogey on their 12th hole of the day to get knocked back to E. Two birdies in their final three holes, however, gave them a -2 round and a share of the lead.
Aaron Lipsky and Aaron Rai entered the day -11. After a hot start, they made three birdies in their first five holes. However, things slowed down, and they played even par after that. Overall, it was a -2 round of 70 to get their share of the lead at -13.
Ryan Brehm and Mark Hubbard entered -11 as well. They made two birdies and one bogey on both nines, shooting 70 to get to -13. And lastly, Andrew Novak and Davis Thompson entered -10 and shot -3 69 to get their share of the lead.
Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele, former champions of the event, are just one shot back at -12.
Former McNeese Cowboy Robert Macintyre and his partner Thomas Detry are still in contention as well, sitting at -11 through two rounds after a round of 71 on Friday.
The third round will switch back to best ball, and therefore plenty of low scores are expected.
