The McNeese Cowboys and Cowgirls saw one of their own take home both Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week Awards. Alexis Gravel took home the baseball honor while Ryann Schexnayder taking the softball award.

Gravel, a senior lefty originally from Canada, struck out a career-high twelve batters over six scoreless innings of work as McNeese secured a 1-0 win in a pitcher’s duel against Oakland on Friday. He has settled in as the Friday night starter for Justin Hill’s team.

Schexnayder, a right-hander from Walker, Louisiana, gave up just one hit over five scoreless innings against Kansas City. The Cowgirls would win the game 10-1 in a run-rule shortened five-inning contest.

The Cowboys will face the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns in a midweek contest tonight, February 25th, at 6:00 PM at Joe Miller Ballpark. The Cowgirls will face Ole Miss tomorrow night at 6:00 PM in Oxford, Mississippi.
