The McNeese Cowboys are ranked 20th in the CollegeInsider.com Men’s Mid-Major Top 25 preseason poll.
The Cowboys are coming off of a 28-7 season with a First-Round NCAA Tournament win over Clemson. The season marked the second and final for Will Wade as head coach, with Wade putting up a 50-9 mark over that stretch.
One of Wade’s former assistants, Bill Armstrong, has taken over the program with hopes of keeping that momentum rolling. Armstrong retained a few top players and was also active in the transfer portal to add new talent.
Five of the Cowboys’ opponents are either ranked or receiving votes in the poll. The poll consists of teams from these conferences: American East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Coastal Athletic, Conference USA, Horizon, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-America, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast, Western Athletic.
McNeese opens the season on Monday, November 3rd against Champion Christian in the newly renamed Townsley Law Arena at 6:30 PM.
