LAKE CHARLES – McNeese starting pitcher Grant Rogers has been selected as the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Rogers became the nation’s first eight-game winner in a 8-3 complete game victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last week. In that game, Rogers gave up three runs (all earned) on seven hits while striking out nine Islanders.
In addition to his 8-0 record, Rogers leads the SLC and is ranked No. 4 in the NCAA with a 1.42 ERA and is second in the nation with a 0.68 WHIP.
The Cowboys junior right handed pitcher is also eighth in the country with a 9.33 strikes-to-walks ration, having struck out 56 batters while walking only six.
Rogers earned All-SLC first team honors and was named the SLC Pitcher of the Year in 2022 — his first season with the Cowboys. Rogers went 7-4 overall with a 4.26 ERA with 72 strikeouts in 82.1 innings of work.
McNeese (21-11) returns to action Wednesday night with a road game at Rice. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
