Here’s the thing about Sunday’s Saints 29-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Saints fans will never get over it. May learn how to live with it over time, but it’ll be awhile until they can enjoy a football game again without thinking what may have been.
Having said that, Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer did everything possible to hand the game to the Saints. Awful clock management before kicking go-ahead field goal. Leaving almost 1:30 for Drew Brees to drive the Saints into field goal range. Thing is, and why Saints fans will be nauseous for at least the next few months, Sean Payton’s clock management wasn’t much better. New Orleans needed that last first down to kick the game-winning field as time expired.
Instead, the Miracle in Minnesota bails Zimmer out. Big Time.
