Even before the Lafayette native set foot on campus, it felt like an inevitability that he would go pro. It finally happened on Monday afternoon with Mondo Duplantis putting out a letter to the fans.
His freshman year at LSU will without a doubt go down as one of the best in terms of track and field, setting collegiate records in both indoor (19’ 5”) and outdoor (19’ 8.25”) collegiate record for pole vaulting during the SEC Championships. His run in the NCAA Championships saw him finish second in the pole vault after clearing 19’ 0.25”.
He will now turn his focus towards the World Championships and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
