NCAA Accuses UL Lafayette of major recruiting violations

NCAA

The NCAA is accusing the University of Louisiana-Lafayette of major recruiting violations in a document that was released to the public on Sunday.

According to the documents, former assistant coach David Saunders between February 2011 and June 2013 allegedly arranged for Ginny Crager, who was an ACT supervisor at the time in Waynesboro, Mississippi to complete or alter an answer sheet  for several prospective student-athletes.

Saunders also allegedly gave an unnamed student athlete in the spring and summer of 2012 cash or housing and other expenses.

The document went on to state that Saunders allegedly provided misleading information and refusing to give information such as cell phone records to the NCAA that was relevant to the investigation.

But according to the document, the university allegedly acknowledged the violation and took action by, among other actions ,firing Saunders in November 2014.

UL Athletic Director Scott Farmer has stated that the university is “taking these allegations seriously and have fully cooperated with the investigation.”
