The New Orleans Saints and Mayor LaToya Cantrell have agreed to allow fans to attend Saints home games starting this weekend.

The Saints are scheduled to play the Carolina Panthers this Sunday at noon.

Below is the following statement from the team:

“Mayor LaToya Cantrell, in partnership with the New Orleans Saints, has agreed to a phased and deliberate pilot approach allowing fans to attend Saints games in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, beginning with this weekend’s game against the Carolina Panthers. Season Ticket Holders will have access to 3,000 tickets that will be distributed for the Oct. 25 Carolina home game to be played at noon CT.”

Capacity for home games could increase as the season goes on, according to the team.

“Barring any change in local health and safety guidelines as any additional changes to crowd size are only possible if current trends continue to remain stable then and only then will capacity increase to 6,000 fans for the Nov. 15 San Francisco and Nov. 22 Atlanta home games,” the statement continued.

The Superdome can hold up to 15,000 fans for the Dec. 10 home game against the Kansas City Chiefs and the Dec. 25 home game against the Minnesota Vikings, barring changes to local health and safety guidelines.

Mayor Cantrell’s office will enforce strict guidelines for crowd gatherings in the Central Business District and French Quarter on game days. This is to make sure city regulations are still being followed.

The statement continued to state the plan for allowing fans in the Superdome moving forward this season.

“The Saints and Mayor Cantrell’s office encourage all of our fans to wear your mask while in public, practicing good hygiene and maintaining social distance. It is imperative that everyone do their part to make sure all of the progress made by our community in our fight against Covid-19 is not lost and we have no setbacks. This plan is based on creating a healthy environment for our fans to arrive, enjoy and depart Saints home games safely.”
