The senior quarterback from Phoenix, Arizona measures 6’1″ and 217 pounds after finishing the 2023 season with 3,186 yards and 19 touchdowns on a completion percentage of 68.9. Rattler has superb arm talent and has shown the ability to make throws from almost every angle possible.

In his collegiate career, Rattler spent his first three seasons with the Oklahoma Sooners before transferring to South Carolina in 2022. Rattler recorded 10,807 and 77 touchdown passes compared to 32 interceptions in his five years of college.

The former five-star high school prospect joins a quarterback room of Derek Carr, Jake Haener, Kellen Mond, and Nathan Peterman.

170: Bub Means – WR – Pitt

20 picks later, with the 170th pick, the Black and Gold take Pitt wide receiver Bub Means.

Means stands at 6’1″, weighs 212 pounds, and is from Lovejoy, Georgia. The 23-year-old pass catcher is known as a field stretcher and spent his first of a three-year college career in Ruston, Louisiana as a member of the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. During that 2021 season, Means had 22 catches for 430 yards and touchdowns.

After that, Means hit the transfer portal and landed at Pittsburgh to become a Panther. In those two seasons in the ACC, he recorded 68 catches for 1,122 yards and eight touchdowns (41, 721, and 6 in 2023).

Means also has 10 1/8″ hands, 4.43 40-yard dash time, 39.5 inch vertical, and will join a wide receiver room that has Chris Olave, Rashid Shaeed, Cedrick Wilson, AT Perry, Equanimeous St. Brown, and Stanley Morgan.

175: Jaylan Ford – LB – Texas

Then, with the 175th pick, the Saints took Texas linebacker Jaylan Ford with their final fifth-round pick.

The Frisco, Texas native played all four years of college with the Longhorns and was a full-time starter in those final two. Ford focuses on making good wrap-up tackles and will make his money out in coverage.

At 6’2″, 240 pounds, Ford had 220 total tackles, four passes deflected, three sacks, three forced fumbles, and six interceptions between the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Ford’s other measurements came out to 33.5 inch vertical, a 10’1″ broad jump, and an arm length of 31 3/4″.

Other linebackers on the team are Demario Davis, Pete Werner, Willie Gay Jr, Monty Rice, Khaleke Hudson, D’Marco Jackson, Nephi Sewell, and Anfernee Orji.

199: Khristian Boyd – DT – Northern Iowa

Midway through the sixth round, New Orleans made their lone selection by taking Khristian Boyd out of Northern Iowa with the 199th overall pick.

Boyd is a 6’4″, 317 pound interior defensive lineman from Kansas City, Missouri. Boyd spent all three college seasons as a member of the Panthers.

Boyd played in one game in 2021 but found himself in the following two seasons. The third-team Associated Press FCS All-American explodes off the line of scrimmage and can command double teams to open holes for blitzers.

In 2022 and 2023, Boyd totaled 68 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles as he helped lead Northan Iowa to 6-5 records.

The 24 year old wasn’t invited to the combine but had an impressive Pro Day with the highlight being 38 reps on the bench press. Boyd joins a defensive line room of Cam Jordan, Carl Granderson, Chase Young, Khalen Saunders, Bryan Bresee, Payton Turner, Isaiah Foskey, Tanoh Kpassagnon, Nathan Shepherd, John Penisini, Niko Lalos, and Jack Heflin.

The Saints have a seventh-round selection (239) remaining in the 2024 NFL Draft.
