New Orleans to host Super Bowl in 2025 due to scheduling conflict with Mardi Gras

Posted by Louis Prejean on October 15, 2020 in Blogs, Featured, Latest News, New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints have begun reaching out to season ticket holders and offering refunds for the upcoming season.

The city of New Orleans is now set to host Super Bowl LIX in 2025 after originally scheduled to host Super Bowl LVIII in 2024.

This scheduling change was made to avoid a scheduling conflict with Mardi Gras. It was approved during a virtual league meeting between all 32 teams on Wednesday.

The NFL’s new collective bargaining agreement, which extends the league’s regular season to 17 games starting in 2021, creates the scheduling conflict.

New Orleans was named the host site of the Super Bowl in 2024 back in 2018.

According to ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez, the Las Vegas Raiders have expressed interest in hosting Super Bowl LVIII.

This year’s Super Bowl is set to be played at Tampa Bay. Los Angeles and Glendale, Arizona will be the host sites for the next two years.
