How It Happened
The Tigers were able to get out in front in the top of the second with an RBI single by Zach Watson. That was followed up by a balk by Adam Hill, getting Hal Hughes across home plate to make it 2-0.
The Gamecocks fought back though with a sac fly from Hunter Taylor in the fourth and a solo shot from Justin Row to even things up at two runs.
LSU broke up the tie in the eighth when Antoine Duplantis got past the catcher on a sac fly by Hunter Feduccia. However, Jacob Olson evened things up in the bottom of the ninth when he ripped one out to center field, scoring LT Tolbert.
The score remained knotted up at three runs apiece until the top of the 12th when Daniel Cabrera hit an RBI single up the middle to score Antoine Duplantis. LSU followed that up when Todd Peterson came up to the plate for his first at-bat as a Tiger and crushed one down the left field line to score two more runs.
