The LSU Tigers were helped by some terrific pitching on the way to handing Sacramento State (3-2) a 6-0 loss on Friday night.
The Tigers started the scoring in the bottom of the first with Beau Jordan hitting an RBI single that scored Kramer Robertson to go up 1-0. Robertson became the center of the team’s scoring throughout the game and kept it going in the bottom of the second with an RBI double.
A sac fly by O’Neal Lochridge led to Brennan Breaux to reach home safely and it was followed by a throwing error by the Hornets in the bottom of the sixth and it allowed Deichmann to score to put the Tigers up 4-0.
Beau Jordan got another RBI in the bottom of the 7th with a single. Robertson put the nail in the coffin with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth.
Jared Poche got his first win of the season throwing six shutout innings, allowing only two hits, walking three and striking out eight on the night.
The Tigers (4-1) will take on Sacramento State on Saturday with first pitch set for 2 pm.
