The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns take the series against the Mavericks with a run rule game for the team and a perfect game for starting pitcher Kandra Lamb 10-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First three players for the UT Arlington Mavericks retired to their side after two strikeouts by Louisiana’s pitcher Kandra Lamb and a fly out to center field. Louisiana ended their inning strong as a walk, hit-by-pitch, and fielder’s choice to score a run.
As quick as the first inning ended for the Mavericks, so did the second with two fly outs and a strikeout. Louisiana came out swinging in their trip around the full lineup with a triple by Kramer Eschete followed by a second home run of the season for Melissa Mayeux. Multiple steals brought in three more runs for the Cajuns to bring them to 6-0 at the retirement of the second inning.
The Mavericks lined, flew, and grounded out of the third inning finishing their first full run through the lineup with no runs at the end of the third. The Ragin’ Cajuns scored four runs in the inning as a fielding error by third baseman KJ Murphy for the Mavericks brought in a first RBI for Ari Quinones followed by a second RBI for Maddie Hayden and two more runs unearned for the two RBI at bats.
Lamb keeps UT Arlington from reaching base at the end of the fourth. The fourth inning retires the Cajuns for their first scoreless run inning with a foul out by Samantha Graeter, strikeout looking by Karly Heath, and a ground out by Quinones.
A three at bat inning ended in a run rule game for the Cajuns for a perfect game for starting pitcher Lamb, her first of the season and with the Cajuns.
