The Ragin Cajuns headed into Hanner Fieldhouse 0-8 on the road on Thursday night. They finally got a win on the road on Thursday night over Georgia Southern (5-10, 1-4 SBC) by the score of 74-65.
The Cajuns were red hot in the first half, leading by as much as seven points over the Eagles, and held a three point lead at the half after Kasey Shepherd drained a jumper at the horn. The Cajuns were an impressive 53 percent from the field and 50 percent from the arc in the first half.
The Cajuns remained hot early on in the second half, going on a 10-3 run in the opening five minutes of the contest to go up by double digits. The Cajuns started to get cold late in the game, but had enough left in the tank to come away with their first road win of the season.
Shawn Long was on fire going 10-for-13 and leading the Cajuns with 23 points. The senior forward also racked up 17 boards, one assist, two blocks, and three steals on the night. Steven Wronkowski was the only other Cajun besides Long, scoring 10 points and garnering three boards.
Tookie Brown led Georgia Southern with 20 points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal on the night.
The Ragin Cajuns (6-8, 2-3 SBC) will travel about three hours northwest to take on Georgia State (11-3, 4-1 SBC) on Saturday with tipoff set for 1:30 pm.
