Ragin’ Cajuns Football Suspends 13 Players Indefinitely

Posted by clintdomingue on April 25, 2017 in Latest News

Cajuns

In a statement released by the Department of Athletics and head coach Mark Hudspeth, 13 players have been indefinitely suspended for “a violation of team rules”. While this has been used as a catch-all term for several football programs, there is more to the story.

According to a press release from the University of Louisiana Police Department, the 13 students conspired to steal from a student in Huger Hall and are accused of stealing items totaling about $2,400. All the players have since bonded out of jail.

Below is the list of players that have been suspended indefinitely:

Matthew Barnes, Joe Dillon, Robert Hunt, Denarius Howard, Jarvis Jeffries, LaDarrius Kidd, Terik Miller, Damar’ren Mitchell, Trey Ragas, Simeon Thomas, Levarious Varnado, D’Aquin Withrow, Jordan Wright.

UPDATE: Mark Hudspeth released a statement on the events Wednesday morning.

“On behalf of our football program, I would like to apologize to Cajun Nation and the University. We do not condone the behavior that was represented and we expect higher standards of our student-athletes.

We work diligently every day to guide, educate and develop these young men, so it is disappointing when we do not meet those standards.

We will be respectful of the legal process as it runs its course.”
