The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns women’s basketball team keep on rolling.
Louisiana extended their winning streak to 12 games after a 63-52 win over the Little Rock Trojans on Friday.
The Ragin’ Cajuns are now 13-5 overall and 12-1 in Sun Belt Conference play.
How It Happened:
The Ragin’ Cajuns managed to end the first quarter with a 14-13 lead despite missing four free throws.
Louisiana’s Skyler Goodwin started strong with nine points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field. Ty Doucet grabbed four rebounds in the opening quarter.
Little Rock held an 11-8 lead with 3:05 remaining in the first after a jumper from Tia Harvey. However, the Ragin’ Cajuns went on a mini 6-2 run entering the second quarter.
Louisiana continued their run as they scored the first four points of the quarter to lead 18-13 with 8:30 remaining in the half.
The Ragin’ Cajuns defense only allowed six points in the second quarter.
Louisiana outscored Little Rock 13-6 in the second. Goodwin followed up an impressive opening quarter with another solid second. She led Louisiana with 14 points in the first half.
The Trojans struggled from the field as they shot 32 percent in the half. The Ragin’ Cajuns took advantage of Little Rock’s 10 first-half turnovers with 11 points off turnovers.
Louisiana led 27-19 entering the second half.
The Trojans cut into Louisiana’s lead to begin the second half. Little Rock trailed 36-31 with 4:18 remaining in the third. Little Rock’s Trinitee Alexander made a jumper to bring their deficit to just five.
Louisiana led 46-41 entering the final quarter. The Trojans made a 3-pointer with two seconds left tin the third to only trail by five.
Jomyra Mathis opened the fourth quarter with a driving layup to give the Ragin’ Cajuns a 48-41 lead. Brandi Williams followed the layup with a 3-pointer to put Louisiana up by 10.
The Ragin’ Cajuns led 55-45 with 4:12 remaining in the game. Goodwin made two free throws with 1:37 left as the Ragin’ Cajuns led 59-50. Mathis responded to a field goal from the Trojans with two more made free throws.
Louisiana would go on to beat Little Rock 63-52.

Goodwin’s first half performance set the tone for the Ragin’ Cajuns in the win. Her offense kept Louisiana afloat as Goodwin scored 14 of team-high 18 points in the first half. Goodwin shot 6-of-10 from the field and 2-of-3 from the 3-point line.
Big Number: 19
The Ragin’ Cajuns missed eight free throws, only recorded six assists and were out-rebounded 35-33. However, the defense forced 19 turnovers and scored 18 points off those turnovers. The defense also held Little Rock to 39 percent shooting from the field.
