With a tied series for Louisiana over Georgia State, they sealed the deal in the finale with a 9-0 run rule over the Panthers for a 2-1 series win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
With a short lived inning at bat for Georgia State with two strikeouts and a fly out to Maddie Hayden. After a strikeout by Jenna Kean for the Ragin’ Cajuns, Sophie Piskos came out swinging for Louisiana with the first home run of the game. Three walks would follow with no runs as they retired to their sides to end the first inning.
Even with a stolen base to third for Daisy Hess, Georgia State couldn’t bring one home ending their at bat with a strikeout by Carolyn Deady. Louisiana made the most of their at bat with a total of two stolen bases and a home run for five runs that led Georgia State to a pitching change from Hallie Adams to Emily Hodnett.
Two fly outs and a strikeout ended Georgia State’s third inning that brought Kandra Lamb to 52 pitches. With one out and a fielding error by the left fielder Chloe Middlebrooks, Hayden ran in to score for the Cajuns.
The Panthers ended their fourth inning the same way as the third with three outs in four batters. The Cajuns saw their run rule game in the headlights as Karly Heath brought in her second home run of the season and a single RBI bringing their score to 9-0 over the Panthers.
Georgia State ended their final inning by Middlebrooks with a looking strikeout to end the game in a run rule for Louisiana.

That makes 65 consecutive series wins for the Ragin’ Cajuns with a 2-1 series victory over Georgia State in their Sun Belt Conference Opener.
PLAYER OF THE GAME: Sophie Piskos
Piskos put out five batters to keep the Panthers from getting on base and making a run on defense as she brought in her fifth home run of the season to put the Cajuns on the board and a second run after a double to left field by Jourdyn Campbell.
UP NEXT: Louisiana (15-5, 2-1 SBC) returns to action Wednesday in a doubleheader against the University of Texas Longhorns. Game One will start at 4 p.m. with Game Two to follow.
