The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns softball team is now on a three-game winning streak after its 7-0 win over Louisiana Tech on Tuesday.

The win improves Louisiana to 35-7 overall for the season.

How It Happened:

It was the ideal start for the Ragin’ Cajuns.

Kandra Lamb got the start at the mound and recorded three quick outs at the top of the first.

Louisiana scored two runs in the bottom of the first. Ciara Bryan hit a triple to open the frame. Kaitlyn Alderink doubled down the right field line to send Bryan home as she later scored after a single up the middle by Jade Gortarez.

Lamb recorded two strikeouts in the second inning as the Ragin’ Cajuns recorded another quick three outs.

The Ragin’ Cajuns led 7-0 after the second inning behind three hits. Julie Rawls hit a two-RBI single to right field. Kendall Talley and Alderink scored courtesy of Rawls.

Lamb ended her day at the mound after the third after not allowing any runs. Summer Ellyson replaced Lamb at the top of the fourth.

Ellyson did not allow a hit in her first inning pitched and struck out two batters.

The Ragin’ Cajuns loaded the bases at the bottom of the sixth with only one out, but Alderink hit into a double play to end the inning.

Louisiana’s Vanessa Foreman replaced Ellyson to close the game. Ellyson finished the game with six strikeouts in three innings.

Big Number: 35

The midweek win over Louisiana Tech gave the Ragin’ Cajuns their 35th win of the season. It was an all-around performance from both the pitching by Lamb and Ellyson along with Louisiana’s offense.

Player of the Game: Kandra Lamb

Lamb and the Louisiana defense set the tone for the game from the first inning. They recorded nine outs on nine batters faced with Lamb on the mound. She struck out two batters.
