The New Orleans Saints have been fined $500,000 and the team will lose their seventh-round draft selection for their postgame celebration in Week 9, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The fine is based on the Saints not wearing masks in their postgame celebration following their 38-3 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Saints have appealed the NFL’s decision, according to Schefter.
The Las Vegas Raiders were also fined $500,000 and they lost their sixth-round draft pick earlier this season for violating COVID-19 protocols.
“One issue the league was focused on, according to sources, was that like Gruden and the Raiders, Payton and the Saints are repeat offenders,” according to Schefter.
New Orleans was fined in Week 2. Head coach Sean Payton was fined $100,000 and the team was fined $250,000 for violating COVID-19 protocols during their loss to the Raiders.
