The NBA will begin opening practice facilities across the league on May 8, but the New Orleans Pelicans will not open their facility at that time, according to ESPN’s Andrew Lopez.

The league attempted to open practice facilities on May 1, but teams pushed back on the idea and now the NBA will reopen facilities in areas with less restricting stay-at-home guidelines.

Here is the report from The Athletic and Stadium’s Shams Charania

Sources: NBA has informed its 30 teams that practice facilities can open May 8 if market is no longer subject to restrictions. Update: Total of six assistant coaches/player development personnel now able to supervise individual's workout; no more than four at one time.

Other guidelines when teams reopen practice facilities are the prohibition of group activity and players cannot use fitness centers, public health clubs or gyms.

New Orleans will not be a part of the reopening on Friday

Pelicans won't be opening up this Friday and possibly not even next week. Source says the Pelicans may not open facility until May 18.

Last week, Gentry said team was looking at May 15 – in line with what @LouisianaGov wants for the state, but could be the following Monday. https://t.co/qSKlC83hGW

The Houston Rockets, Portland Trailblazers and Denver Nuggets are the only three NBA teams currently planning to reopen their practice facilities.
