The New Orleans Saints have had trade conversations regarding defensive tackle Malcom Brown, according to NFL Network.

The #Saints have had trade conversations about potentially dealing DT Malcom Brown, sources say. In the third year of a 3-year, $15M contract, a trade or release would save NO about $5M against the cap – and obviously they have a lot of work to do to get under the cap.

The 27 year-old defensive tackle signed a 3-year, $15 million contract with New Orleans in 2019. Brown is now in the third year of the contract. A trade or release would save New Orleans $5 million in cap as the team finds themselves $69 million over the cap.

Brown was drafted with the 32nd overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots.

The Saints made more moves on Wednesday to address their cap situation.

The #Saints made a few moves, with sources saying they agreed on a 2-year deal with safety and special teamer JT Gray, giving the would-be RFA a deal worth $4M with $2M guaranteed. They also did a simple restructure on DT David Onyemata’s contract, creating $4.34M in cap space.

The Saints released offensive lineman Nick Easton earlier in February, which saved New Orleans nearly $6 million in cap space.
