It was first reported that members of the LSU football team tested positive for COVID-19 and now there is a report from the University of Louisiana.
According to The Daily Advertiser’s Tim Buckley, three Ragin’ Cajun student athletes have tested positive for COVID-19 while seven others are in quarantine. All ten student-athletes are in isolation.
A release from the university’s office of communications and marketing states one athlete is isolating on the campus and the two others who tested positive are isolating off the campus.
The identities of the student athletes that tested positive for COVID-19 have not been released.
The following is from the statement released by the university:
“The isolation period for each is 14 days to reduce the possibility of transmission to others. Public health officials have been in touch with other members of the university community, who may have had direct contact with the affected students.”
UL football is scheduled to open their season at home against McNeese State on Sept. 5.
