Former Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns punter Rhys Byrns is headed north of the border to play for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was selected with the 14th overall pick as a part of the second round of the CFL Draft.
Byrns, a native of Australia, punted in 64 games for the Cajuns across five collegiate seasons. He was a four-time All-Sun Belt selection during his time with Louisiana, placing on the second and first teams twice each.
The CFL begins their season in May with preseason games, and the regular season starts in June.
