The New Orleans Saints cut down their roster size to 53, moving on from 36 other members of the team to meet the size limit. With that, the Black and Gold brought back quite a few to place on their practice squad.
An NFL team may have up to 17 players on the practice squad at a time. The Saints named 16 players to theirs, and General Manager Mickey Loomis announced who the organization signed on Wednesday.
One of the more notable signings is former Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun Jacob Kibodi. The Baton Rouge native recorded 72 total scrimmage yards and two rushing touchdowns in the Saints’ final preseason game against the Tennessee Titans.
In addition to that move, New Orleans also brought back three safeties and two wide receivers. One of the safeties was former first-round pick, Johnathan Abram while seven of the 16 players were rookies.

In addition, the New Orleans Saints signed running back and return specialist Kene Nwangwu. The former Iowa State Cyclone is a former fourth-round selection for the Minnesota Vikings where he spent his first three seasons in the NFL. Defensive lineman Kendal Vickers was a part of the initial 53-man roster but had his contract terminated to make room on the roster for Nwangwu, then was signed to the practice squad.
