The New Orleans Saints string of bad news continued on Tuesday with the seemingly abrupt retirement announcement from Patrick Robinson.
Robinson, a 2010 draft pick by the Saints, was certainly a lock for the number two corner slot headed into the season but likely would fill the number one spot if Marshon Lattimore is suspended following his arrest earlier in the year. The former Florida State standout only played three games in 2020 before an ankle injury sidelined him for the rest of the season.
Sean Payton mentioned during his post-practice press conference that he talked to him about prior to his announcement and mentioned that Robinson was comfortable with his decision.
Robinson finishes his career with 62 starts in 123 games played with 322 tackles, and 16 interceptions.
